Accra is the capital of Ghana with a population of about 2 million multi-ethnic communities. It is one of the hottest places on the African continent and one of the safest cities in Africa.
A film location delight with its National Theatre, many restaurants, the Green Plane, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park & Mausoleum and the Black Star Square which commemorates its independence.
Elmina Castle, Cape Coast Castle, Osu Castle, and Fort Christiansborg are colonial-era slave trade castles.
Kakum National Park is known for its elephants, birdlife and canopy walks.
Kokrobite offers good surfing near Accra. A four hour drive from Accra the town of Busua is the surfing capital of Ghana. Further still Cape Three Points is another good break to film surfing. Other beaches of note include Labadi Beach and Bojo Beach.
Nzulezu is a stilt village overlooking Lake Tadane.
FILM PERMITS
Film permits take about 6 days to process and for this the local line producers/fixers require the following –
- A synopsis of the project and genre
- A crew list with the designations
- Production schedule
- A list of locations with a description
- A distribution plan
EQUIPMENT TEMPORPARY IMPORT PERMITS
Ghana is not a Carnet country. International production companies require a temporary import permit and will need to supply our producers with a gear list and an approximate value for the film equipment.
INTERNATIONAL PRESS ACCREDITATION
Press cards are required for all international crew wishing to film on location in Ghana.
VISA APPLICATION
A business visa is required when filming on location in Ghana
