Cairo is situated in the Nile Valley and Delta Region and is the capital city of ancient Egypt. It’s the largest city in the Arab world with over 10 million people and is Egypt’s film production centre. As a film location, international film producers are spoilt for choice – Pyramids, The Great Sphinx of Giza, a mixture of ancient and modern architecture, museums, mosques, waterfalls, deserts, The Nile , The Cairo Opera House , Palaces , The Hanging Church, markets , parks etc.
FILM PERMITS
Film permits to film in public spaces take from 6 weeks to 2 months depending on the type of public place e.g., streets, a museum, historical place ectr. While filming in these public spaces the international film crew must be accompanied by at least one or more government officials.
EQUIPMENT TEMPORPARY IMPORT PERMITS
Requires permits. The costs is dependant on the amount and cost of gear brought in.
INTERNATIONAL PRESS ACCREDITATION
All international film crews wishing to film on location in Egypt require press accreditation.
VISA APPLICATION
Visas can be applied for online or bought on the airport for 25 USD.
