WHAT OUR FILM FIXERS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT FILMING ON LOCATION IN SUDAN

Sudan is situated in north-eastern Africa on the Red Sea. In the north we have the dry Nubia Desert and in the south rainforests. Both The White and The Blue Nile runs through the country.

Some film locations of note are

  • The Republican Palace Museum,
  • Sudan National Museum
  • The Sheikh Hamad-al Nil Tomb in Omdurman sees Sufi worshippers whirl around the tomb in a trance-like state as part of a sacred ritual called dhikr, every Friday.
  • Omdurman camel market
  • The Pyramids of Meroe, located in the deserts of eastern Sudan, along the banks of the Nile River
  • Dinder National Park, located in the southeast of the country, is home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, painted hunting dogs, black rhinoceros, elephants, giraffes, buffalos, ostriches, and a diversity of migratory birds.
  • Mukkawar Island Marine National Park on the Red Sea known for its azure seas and magnificent coral reefs
  • Deriba Caldera in the Marrah Mountains, Darfur , is the country’s highest peak.
  • Précontinent II are the remains of Jacques Cousteau’s 1960’s underwater village.
