Film permits

Filming permits for Zanzibar are obtained from Tanzania Film Censorship Board and local Authority in Zanzibar. A regular filming permit costs US$1,000 if you apply 3 months in advance and a last minute Filming permit costs US$3,000.

Location permits to film in public spaces

These permits take about a week. A hard drive with all footage shot needs to be submitted to relevant government department by fixer prior to client’s departure. Municipal permits are also required. These costs about $500.

Visas and work permits for international crew

Visas on arrival apply at a cost of $100 for tourists and $250 for business. Proof of yellow fever vaccination and COVID-19 may be requested on arrival so be sure to carry these with you.
